For first-time inventors
Talk to a licensed patent attorney in your state.
Tell us your ZIP code. We'll connect you with an independent, registered patent attorney, and if we don't have one where you live yet, we'll find one.
- Free to use. There's no charge for the match and no obligation to buy anything.
- Independent attorneys. They run their own practices and owe their professional duties to you.
- No pressure. You decide what happens next, at your own pace.
Request received
- Watch for an email from Patent Attorney Network confirming your request.
- The attorney's office will contact you to arrange a first conversation, and will tell you upfront what, if anything, it costs.
- Nothing is decided until you decide. You can stop at any point.
How it works

Why "independent" matters
Many invention companies use salespeople who earn more when you spend more. The attorneys you're matched with here don't work for us. Each runs a separate practice, is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is bound by their state bar's rules of professional conduct.
That means their professional duty, including confidentiality, is owed to you, the inventor.
So you know: if you order a patentability assessment or a filing package through Montgomery IP Associates, Montgomery IP pays the attorney for that work. You'll be told this in writing before you buy, and you can say no.
A commissioned sales rep
- Paid more when you buy more
- Duty is to their employer
- No professional license at stake
An independent patent attorney
- Registered with the USPTO
- Accountable to a state bar
- Professional duty owed to you
Who's behind this
Patent Attorney Network is a Montgomery IP Associates company. Montgomery IP has worked with independent inventors since 1996.
Montgomery IP also runs For Sale By Inventor, which helps inventors market their products, and 3D VR Studio, which makes product renderings.
About marketing
Patent Attorney Network doesn't sell marketing, and your attorney isn't involved in it. After your research is delivered, For Sale By Inventor may contact you separately about marketing services. That conversation is optional, and you can ask not to be contacted.
